BAREILLY: Ahead of
Holi, the power department has issued guidelines to its staff to remain vigilant during the festival of colors to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The guidelines were issued a day after completion of the anti-theft drive in the district, under which Rs 4.96 crore was raised as arrears.
Talking to TOI, chief engineer, UPPCL Bareilly division, N C Agarwal said, “People tend to indulge in hooliganism during Holi and end up throwing wet clothes and others objects on overhead lines, causing tripping of lines.
We have issued guideline to staffers to remain alert around the festival so that locals get uninterrupted supply this time.”
Staff members have also been asked to ensure that Holika Dahan is not performed below electricity lines or near transformers, which might affect power supply.
He added that a master plan was also prepared to meet the rising demand for power during summer months. “We are trying to minimize line losses and local faults which are often a big concern for our department, especially in dense localities,” said Agarwal.
